The property is very much suitable for fruit farming, especially for Passion Fruit farming, which is a fast growing agro farm segment in some part of India. Kerala made good progress in Passion fruit farming. We have some very good examples in Thodupuzha and in Idukki, which had similar tropical climate as our property.
The passion-fruit vine is cultivated predominantly in small orchards, on average 1- 4 ha, and is an important source of income for small to medium producers. In India, passion fruit cultivation is confined to Kerala, Tamil Nadu (Nilgiri hills and Kodai Kenal), Karnataka (Coorg) and northeastern states (Mizoram, Nagaland, Manipur and Sikkim). The average productivity comes to 5.02 tons/ha, abysmally low to 30-35 tons/ha harvested in the countries like Brazil, Australia, Colombia which must be our targeted production in our farm.
